This is an older ranch style home and it has a lot of its original charms especially in the appliances. That said I've ordered all new ones. I'm going to give this old home a modern look with all stainless steel appliances. As for the counter tops, I would like to either do a faux marble or granite. Either that or tile it, but considering what is currently there tile would be considerably more work since I'd need a tack board layer.
Now they did just replace the carpet, but I think I'm going to tear it all out. I really love tile floors and I've fallen in love with these big stone tiles I found. I want to do a rusty sandstone-ish tile and a light cream and checkerboard the kitchen. In the living room I'm going to continue the cream but put some nice small tile accents. This will continue through the hallways. As for the bedrooms I haven't decided if I want to leave the carpet or tile as well and get some nice decorative rugs.
This weekend I went to an electrical contractor. They have lots of lighting fixtures left over from some of these high end homes and hotels they've done work for and suprisingly they just gave this stuff away. I got two gorgeous wood lamps, a hanging marble fixture for the dining room and vanity set including the mirror.
All that is left is to find some furniture and do the work. I'll probably be posting pictures throughout the process. So please my friends give me your creative advice!
